The Simulation - How it Works
At first glance, the ZombieSim zombie invasion software appears to be dots randomly moving strangely. Pause for a moment and you'll get past this initial reaction.
In actuality, the artificial intelligence powering the zombie invasion simulation is very carefully making choices. Of course, those choices usually boil down to eating and running, but that's beside the point. For every character you see on the screen, they act and react autonomously to the things they see around them.
Purple Humans: These fellows are normally purple, which is their default state in which life is peachy and the world is normal. They wander around the city doing whatever it is they're thinking about doing, and that's how life goes. However, if a human sees a zombie, or a human with a gun, they get freaked out. When this happens, they turn yellow, turn around, and run. Blindly. Some of them become paralyzed with fear, but most of them turn and run.
Yellow Humans: The aforementioned "freaked out", "panicking" crew of the crowd, these guys run quickly from fear. Unfortunately, they also run blindly, screaming and drooling with anxiety and horror. Yikes.
Green Humans: These killers are man's best friend: man with a gun. Humans can become armed with a weapon to fight back against the evil hoarde when they find the Armory, a green building somewhere on the map. Once they find the Armory, humans achieve weaponry, at which point they spread out to hunt down zombies. When they see a zombie, they take aim and shoot. Fear? What's fear when there's smoking iron between you and them?
White Humans: These aren't humans. These are stinking zombies, aiming to spread their infection and devour everyone they can find. Zombies are slow and dumb, but when they see someone, they chase after as fast as they can. Unfortunately, it seems that sometimes, despite their stupidity and slowness, they can manage to infect another person. Once caught and infected, the other person becomes a dumb, slow-witted zombie. And the cycle continues.
Game Controls:
Tap: Yes, you can tap. If you want. With a touch of a finger you can unleash destruction on the village, town, or city with a falling bomb. Imagine you're the President calling in an air strike. You might just save someone. You might save everyone. You might also kill a bunch of healthy civilians and destroy the only barriers against a more complete invasion. Carpet bombing? How fast can you tap?
Tap-Hold: Try it. I'm sure you'll like it.
Shake: This simply shows/hides the dashboard, a panel that indicates how many humans, zombies, and dead there are. Also, how long the invasion has been running. There's also a button to the Game Menu. It's marked "Menu", so I'm sure you won't be able to miss it.

Please make your game compatible with the ipod touch. I’ve been looking for a good zombie sim app for so long and this looks perfect, but by requiring a microphone you’ve cut off a huge percentage of potential buyers, myself included. Please update this so that the ipod community can take part in the fun!

Thanks again for your interest in the ZombieSim! We’ve been trying to resolve the issue that you mentioned previously, the one about not being able to download the app due to the requirement of a microphone. We have made some changes to the application that we hope will resolve this issue for you. If you choose to try again, please let us know if these changes have corrected your problem.
Edit: We got confirmation. ZombieSim works on first generation iPod Touches! Sorry about the hassle, but thanks for helping us solve the problem!

how come there is never an armory for me?

Dan,
What do you mean there is never an armory? The map is randomly generated each time, so the armory might randomly not appear, but should appear some other run of the simulation. If you’re not seeing it, try changing the set up of the city in the main menu’s Options. Let me know if it helps!
If you still have problems, please send me a screenshot by pressing the power and home buttons at the same time to take a picture, then emailing that photo. Thanks!
